Op het eerste gezicht lijkt Hoeve Termoere op een ‘gewone’ vakwerkboerderij, maar deze hoeve heeft een bijzondere kant. Een gedeelte, de grote stenen zijwand, is namelijk opgebouwd uit de prehistorische stenen afkomstig uit de naburige groeves. Toen de hoeve in de 18e eeuw gebouwd werd, wist men waarschijnlijk niet dat de kolenzandsteen zo oud was! Het rijksmonument Hoeve Termoere herbergt nu enkele vakantiewoningen.
Meer weten over geologische schatten? VVV Zuid-Limburg heeft een wandelplattegrond uitgegeven met de naam ‘Geologische schatten in het Geuldal’. Deze is verkrijgbaar bij de VVV Vestigingen.
