Vóór de herberg die hier al in 1390 stond en ondergebracht was in de hoeve "Hof ten Eynde" plantte Jan van Laarhoven rond 1780 deze lindeboom. De tapperij is verdwenen, de boom is gebleven.
Na enig rekenwerk om zijn leeftijd te schatten krijg je respect voor deze veteraan die op de toplijst van mooiste lindebomen in Nederland de zestigste plaats inneemt. Weliswaar geen gouden medaille, maar toch...
