Wijngaard Raarberg

Vineyard Raarberg was planted in 2010. There are 7,000 sticks of the classic varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Which lend themselves exceptionally well to making sparkling wine.
terroir Vineyards in Meerssen date back to 968. In the inventory list of Queen Gerberga of Saxony (owner of allodium Meerssen in the tenth century), some vineyards in Meerssen are already described.
She later donated her vineyards to the Benedictine monks from Reims (Champagne). The calcareous soil that is characteristic of the Mergelland is ideal for growing wine grapes.
Landscape and climate The vineyard is located at an altitude of 90 meters on the slope of the Raarberg in the hamlet of Raar. The tendrils are positioned on North/South so that they benefit optimally from the sun.
The rolling landscape ensures that the cold can sink into the Geul valley and the grapes can develop optimally.
Grape varieties and wine types Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Wijngaard Raarberg only makes sparkling wines according to Methode Traditionelle. For example, the Raar Cuvee, Raar Rose and Raar Blanc de Blancs are produced.

wine process Wijngaard Raarberg opts for a manual harvest with a pre-selection in the vineyard. This ensures that only the best grapes go to Wijnhuis Raarberg. Wijnhuis Raarberg is an 'Urban Winery' located in the center of Maastricht (Alexander Battalaan 31-Wyck).
Vineyard Raarberg Guided tours and packages can be organized for groups on request. You can visit the vineyard and the 'Urban Winery' in Maastricht.
