Axel is een stad in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, het zuidelijk deel van de Nederlandse provincie Zeeland. Axel maakt deel uit van de gemeente Terneuzen.
Axel blijft zich uitbreiden. In 1995 startte de bouw van de eerste woning van de wijk Zonnemare. Begin 21e eeuw werd een nieuwe wijk en enkele appartementencomplexen gebouwd.
