Waar vroeger Kasteel Etzenrade stond, vind je nu een prachtig gebied waar geschiedenis, archeologie, natuur en landschap, water, educatie en recreatie op een bijzondere wijze bijeen zijn gebracht.
Van het kasteel is nog weinig over, maar de grachten waren via archeologisch onderzoek goed te reconstrueren. Deze zijn in 2019 uitgegraven en dienen nu als waterbuffer.
De grachten omsluiten twee eilanden. Op het achterste eiland bevindt zich een archeologietuin. Het ervoor gelegen eiland is de historische plek van het verwoeste kasteel. Hier staat nu een cortenstalen poort, die het Etzenrader Huisken en het kleine eiland
verbindt met de archeologietuin.
