Chapel of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart

Chapel of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart built in 1886 by Dominicus Van Der Meulen and popularly known as Domientjeskapel after its founder. Chapel located in the front garden of number 40 behind a fence, initially belonging to an earlier farm of which only the altered farmhouse (number 38) remains. Neo-Gothic rectangular chapel with three-sided closure. Brick construction with use of hard stone; gabled roof (slate) topped with a six-sided wooden bell tower; slate spire crowned by an iron cross. Sharp pointed gable with braiding, hard stone top edging, profiled shoulder pieces, top cross. Framed pointed arch door; top oculus with three-pass. Beautifully whitened woodwork of double door under facade stone with the inscription O L V and a flaming heart under a crown. Pointed arch side windows; crucifix on a diamond-shaped board with a small roof against the blind back wall.
