During World War I, the Neigembos was almost completely logged. A few beeches survived the clear-cutting and are now our over hundred-year-old veteran trees. To allow trees the chance to grow old, they must be able to live in optimal health. It is important that the roots of the centenarian trees can extract their food and water from the soil.
Entering the slopes causes erosion or landslides and compacts the soil. The nutrient-rich humus layer then washes away, reducing the water's chance of penetrating the soil.
Therefore, stay on the paths and do not play on the slopes.
