The Westhoek is sometimes described as billiard flat, but some sandy calf-biters will make you question that during this hike. You walk through almost all the nature reserves of Grand Koksijde, which offer you a hearty portion of hiking fun in perhaps the most beautiful hiking area of our 67 km long coastal strip. From the North Dunes in Sint-Idesbald, you seamlessly connect to the High Blekker and descend into the Doornpanne in Koksijde and its outskirts, the White Castle in Oostduinkerke. In the Plaats Dunes, you feel like you are in another world. You wind through the damp Hannecart Forest and along the Zeeberm Dunes, you can already hear, see, and smell the salty sea. A long walk on the beach or dike leads you to the border with De Panne and to the edge of the Houtsaeger Dunes.
