Departure in the village of Doomkerke, a relatively young parish founded in a short time by the ambitious Pastor Doom in the mid-nineteenth century. You can park on Brandstraße, between house numbers 16 and 18. Follow the junctions of the Bulskampveld hiking network. Bulskampveld used to be a vast heathland, but now you will find forests, nature reserves, farmland, and castles here. Directly after the parking lot, turn right following the signs to the landscape park Disveld. The cobblestone path runs around the back of the church. After a few zigzags, take the narrow path on the right at the end of the stones. You are now in the hiking network. After a few hundred meters, you will see the first signage towards junction 70. Follow the forest path to the right and turn left almost immediately onto Krommekeerstraße at the country road. At junction 70, go right and you will enter the diverse Vorte forests. Head towards junction 71, where you take the left path towards junction 72. At Kruisbergstraat, you turn briefly to the right and immediately left at junction 72 towards junction 69. This will bring you into the Pfarreiveld forest. After a while, you will pass a nice pond and picnic area. Once out of the forest, at junction 69, turn right and continue for 200 meters to junction 67.

Here, take the left onto Planterijstraat. Follow this for 1.3 kilometers until reaching MariaAalterstraat, which you cross. You will arrive at the park of the Veldkapel with the adjacent old cemetery of SintPietersveld. Go left opposite the entrance to the cemetery. At the main road (junction 68), turn left again towards junction 58. Opposite Brasserie De Radio, turn right. To the right of the road, you will notice the first signs of the nature reserve the Gulke Putten with its swamp and wet heath.

Possible shortcut (5.5 kilometers): at junction 58, take the left onto Veldkapellestraat towards junction 57, where you follow the normal route to the left.

For the full route, continue right towards junction 59. Passing Castle Carpentier, go straight until junction 59. Straight ahead, you can see the buildings of the former training center for sailors for the merchant fleet, which enjoyed great success at the end of the nineteenth century.

Here you can shorten the hike by 2 kilometers: turn left directly to junction 51, where you will again follow the left of the normal route.

For the full route, go straight ahead, and shortly after, at a picnic area with a fish pond, turn right to junction 60. On your right side along the way, you will see the pond where aspiring sailors received practical training with a replica of merchant ships! At junction 60, we will be opposite the former Reichserziehungsanstalt. Now, there is the penitentiary agriculture center De Zande. Turn left here to junction 61, where you again turn left towards junction 62. Go straight ahead until a T-junction, where you can turn right and take the path to the left after a hundred meters to junction 49. Go straight towards junction 50. After a small intersection, follow the grassy path directly in front of you. At the T-junction (junction 50), turn left to junction 51 (fork). The old radio transmission facilities that you will pass for a while now belong to the Ministry of Defense and were part of the Wingene transmitter, which established direct connections with seagoing vessels around the world from 1927. The masts are now classified as industrial heritage.

At the aforementioned fork, go all the way right. You will initially wind between meadows and transmission facilities. After a fairly long straight stretch, you will arrive at junction 52. Here, turn left and a hundred meters later, at the start of a small woods, take a narrow path to the right towards junction 55. You will reach Veldkapellestraat (gravel road), which you follow left until junction 57. Turn right between the edge of the forest and the field until junction 56. Here, turn again left and continue your way towards junction 70 back to the village of Doomkerke.
