Discover all benefitsThe route starts in picturesque Tecklenburg and you cycle clockwise.
You first walk towards the Ibberbürener Bergplatte, a high plateau with altitude differences of up to 100 meters, where many quiet side roads run and you have many climbs here. Before you reach the plateau, you will first climb the Hupenberg. Then there are 3 climbs to the top of the plateau (Capelner Straße, followed by the Blomenkamp, the steep Grundkenliet (up to 15%) and the Quellenweg). All climbs to the high plateau have steeper sections up to between 10 and 15%. The secondary roads on more heavily wooded parts of the plateau have a slightly less good asphalt surface.
After that, you'll head over Hollenbergs Hill and then follow an 11km stretch on quiet roads without hills (where you'll also pass by a tractor museum, which is well worth it). After passing the village of Lotte, you will head towards the higher hills of the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest between Tecklenburg and Lienen. You now get the climbs of the Looser Berg, Heidberg (Zum Jägerberg ), Holperdorp via Zum Schoppenbrink (a wonderfully quiet narrow road that climbs steeply hilly on average), the Liener Berg from the side of the Holperdorp and the Sudenfelder Straße. These climbs are slightly less steep (up to about 10%). The roads in this area, which run over the ridge, are often busier roads, but on this route the Liener Berg is descended via the traffic-calmed K31 and then climbed again via the quiet K30 (Sudenfelder Straße).
Via the beautiful K30 (Schollbrucher Straße, quiet hilly road with here and there half-timbered farms) you cycle in the direction of Tecklenburg. The longer climbs over the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest are now behind us, and some steeper climbs follow, namely along the Gut Stappenhorst (also called Lengericher Berg), the really steep but short Kleeberg (400 meters long, gradients up to 20%), the Brandenberg (the ascent to the TV station, also called Alter Postweg ). ) and finally the ascent via the Bahnhofstraße to Tecklenburg (with gradients of up to 12%), known as Bismarckhöhe.
The roads on this route are quiet and busy thoroughfares are avoided as much as possible. Only at Lienen do you have to ride a kilometer on a cycle path to bypass the village via main roads. Between Hagen am Teutoburg Forest and Lake Erika you also have 1 km of cycle path along the road.
A longer version of this route (of 104 km in length) is also available.
