The most Flemish city in Zeeland and the most beautiful nature reserves in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen

The starting point of this Zeeland-Flemish walk is located on the south side of Hulst at the Ghent Gate dating from 1780 and - how could it be otherwise - near the monument of Reynaert de Vos, the city mascot.

Accompanied by the GR you walk to the southeastern outer border of modern Hulst to take the higher earth path on the Liniedijk . It was his defensive dike against the Spaniards during the 80-year war. The dike connected several forts. You always walk around these protruding wooded (small) sconces.

You do not walk to the end of the dike but leave it after 3 km when crossing the Clinge-Zandberg road.

You cross the Moerschans that connects the more eastern Flemish Creek with the canal around the ramparts of Hulst. The creeks remind us of the history of this very fertile landscape: salt marshes and mudflats intersected by hundreds of gullies.

Asphalt gives way to grass path towards Sixty Foot Creek, a fish-rich water. For more than 3.5 km you walk with a beautiful grass path along its reed-collared bank. It is one of the highlights of the walk.

Flanders ignores you and steps onto the Koningsdijk. Some large boundary posts with the year 1843 make it clear that there is a national border here.
