Huppaye: The forgotten land of Brabant's Haspengouw

Light-waved landscape walk with a wide view in Walloon Brabant. A sparsely populated region with an agricultural character: Brabant Haspengouw. On the way, you mainly travel along unpaved paths and some forest trails through a gentle agricultural area with a patchwork of fields of grains and sugar beets. A lunch break can be made at the friendly village café "Le Rianfra," Place des Fetes 3 in Incourt, where you can enjoy your own picnic; the café is closed on Tuesdays. Also in Incourt, on Rue Sainte Ragenufle, there is a beautiful chapel built at the place where the spring "Fontaine de Sainte-Ragenufle" emerges, the only spring with drinkable water in Walloon Brabant. The spring water is said to be healing against fever and dropsy. Along quiet field paths, we reach the sleepy village of Roux-Miroir. The maze of narrow paved streets forms a picturesque quarter at the foot of the church. Our walk takes us around a beautiful old alleyway surrounding the Romanesque St. Martin's Church, and we then take the hedged path. We continue the journey through the fields and along the highest point of the region near the modern water tower. On clear days, one can see for several kilometers from here. Brocui lies in the distance. The idyllic village is situated away from all major roads. Large orchards, extensive fields, and the wooded valley of Brocui provide a green, varied, and harmonious environment. After passing through Jodoigne-Souveraine, we see to the north the towers of the old town Jodoigne, before turning southeast to return to Huppaye.
