Description

This hike starts in Thales highest district Friedrichsbrunn and leads through the hidden gem Tiefenbachtal down to the idyllic village of Treseburg in the Bodetal valley. With its pristine tree population and gnarled roots, the side valley created by the Luppbode creek will surely enchant you.

Directions

From the trail signpost in the center of Friedrichsbrunn, the path initially leads in a northwesterly direction through the forest road branching off from the main street. Past the shooting range, continue straight ahead into the Tiefenbachtal valley (yellow bar). Lined with partly steep slopes, the route now crosses the Tiefenbach stream several times and meets a trail marked with a green dot at a shelter.

Following the yellow bar / green dot markings, you will pass numerous cliffs and rock formations, with the Glashüttenköpfe on the left side of the trail being the most famous. At another shelter, you will encounter the trail from Allrode to Treseburg. Here, the Tiefenbach stream flows into the Luppbode creek, which you will now follow downstream to Treseburg.

Upon reaching the Bodetal-Information center in Treseburg, you can either take the bus back or alternatively hike back via the Hexentanzplatz. If you have some extra time, a visit to the clock museum is worthwhile.
