We start our circular hike at the hiking car park above the Silbersteiner sports field. A small forest path leads us in a northerly direction until we turn left onto a forest path after about 100 m. We follow this path in a westerly direction.

We hike above the "Schwarzer Mohren" and from above, we can see the Dürrenwaider church in the valley. At the next fork, we turn right, then turn right again after 50 m onto a slope path. This path ends with a staircase descent shortly before the Christuskirche, built in 1968 on the property of the "Schwarzer Mohren," where silver ore was mined just over 200 years ago.

To the left across the car park, we reach the Kirchsteig leading northwest. We follow the slope path, with a magnificent view of Dürrenwaid, about 500 m downhill. Passing the fire station and the Jahnsbrunnen, we reach the Dürrenwaiderhammer after another 200 m.

Here, we cross the main road, pass by the restaurant "Dürrenwaider-Hammer," and climb the opposite hill to continue hiking along the Sommerhaide in an easterly direction. Rest benches here invite you to rest, linger, and enjoy the view. At the same time, beautiful viewpoints allow us to enjoy the magnificent low mountain landscape.

The approximately 1.6 km section on this valley side also slowly brings us back to the valley and ends at the old quarry at the end of the Dürrenwaider valley. Here, we pass by the Frankenwaldbrunnen (built in 1955 by the local FWV branch) and the Prinz-Ludwig memorial plaque. It commemorates the visit of the Prince Regent in 1899. Walking along the sidewalk, along the Ölsnitzbach, we reach the Neumühle and after 400 m, turning left uphill, we return to our starting point Silberstein.
