Hiking on the dream path

The proposed hiking route is one of the dream trails and is signposted. Hiking along the Moselle means ascent and descent, there are always some differences in altitude to overcome and this is no different with these "dream paths". Sturdy hiking shoes and a little fitness are necessary. You get a lot in return. These are real walks in nature. These trails are best done from April to October, outside of this time it is too muddy. Signposting: Follow the signs "Traumpfade".

Description of the Bleidenberg views
The hiking trail starts at the church of Oberfell. After climbing a vine-covered slope, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Moselle. Further uphill there are beautiful panoramas on the Vooreifel. After a walk through green forests and flowering meadows, you will reach the refuge on the Dickenberg, which offers beautiful views and invites you to take a pleasant break. After a few kilometers on unpaved dirt roads, you will pass the K71 and reach the untouched valley of the Alkener Bach. The geological history of the region comes alive here with deep gorges and quarries.

The road leads along the rushing Alkener Bach and past the imposing Helmutseik to a beautiful mixed forest, where a slight ascent is rewarded with impressive views. Once at the top, Thurant Castle comes into view, taking you back to the Middle Ages. A narrow path leads through a rocky outcrop to the historic St. Michael's Church and the charming wine village of Alken. The route leads past the quaint city gate to the "Seven Foot Falls via ferrata", which leads up to the vine-covered slopes of the Moselle. From the Bleidenberg you can enjoy spectacular views. The nearby pilgrimage church of Bleidenberg is also worth a visit.
