This route is largely based on the Granfondo Cannondale. There are several variants of this "XL" version: the L, M, S, and XS versions. The route starts at Place des Lices in Saint Tropez, from where the Col de Collebasse is climbed via Ramatuelle. A long stretch next to the Mediterranean Sea leads eventually to the foot of the Col de Canadel (from 0 to 267m in height). Beautiful climb with a view of the sea. After that, the beautiful "Route des Crêtes" follows. During the first part, you have beautiful views on the right side, including of the airport. About halfway, this route turns left towards Le Lavandou. There is a particularly steep descent there and then partly along bike paths and roads, next to the Mediterranean Sea until Le Lavandou. From there, you make up for the descent by climbing until the route joins with the endpoint of the Route des Crêtes. The next slope is the 8 km long, but not steep Col de Babaou with a long descent to Collobrières (an ideal spot for lunch, by the way). Via the D39, the route continues to climb the "Notre Dames des Anges." We leave the turn to the top on the left, but anyone who feels like it can of course go up and down there and cover a few extra kilometers and altitude meters. After the long descent to Gonfaron, it heads towards La Garde-Freinet. The first part is usually slightly descending, and with a strong tailwind, you can really fly here. The climb to La Garde-Freinet goes via the D558, fairly busy but sufficiently safe. After that, a rolling route, particularly beautiful and very quiet, until you cross the D25. Then there is a surprisingly steep climb (Col de Pelgros), after which the road narrows, and after a slight climb, transitions into a not-so-safe descent towards Roquebrune-sur-Argens. This descent is not steep but is scattered with gravel and sand here and there, which can be particularly treacherous in the bends. So watch out! After the cozy village of Roquebrune, it goes via the D7 and D8 to the sea, with a slight climb along the way. The route follows the D559 past Sainte Maxime where a safe bike path starts all the way to Saint Tropez, but the route deviates at the intersection with the D244 where another climb is included. Eventually heading towards Cogolin with a surprisingly steep section afterwards, and then back to Saint Tropez.
