St. Peter's Church with beautiful treasury

The St. Peter's Church, also known as the Great Church of Sittard, is the tallest in Limburg with its tower reaching 83 meters. It is the jewel of the city, the beacon of Sittard visible from all directions.
Together with the basilica of Our Lady of the Holy Heart, St. Peter's Church defines the Sittard skyline. The church stands out not only for its height compared to the other churches in Sittard's city center, but also because it historically served as a collegiate church.
Parts of the church have been under the control of various powers since the twelfth century, initially from the noble house of the neighboring Born, through the cathedral church in Cologne, to two other noble families and the Mariakaptel of Aachen.
In the meantime, the church is once again entirely owned by Sittard. According to tradition, various miracles took place around St. Peter's Church in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, leading many people from the surrounding area to go on pilgrimage to this Sittard church.
One example is that the statue of Our Lady of the Preservation of the Sick is said to have been found in Bruges according to a legend after the Iconoclastic Fury, where it was carried away by the river.
Numerous miracles are reported to have occurred at the statue: the blind, deaf, mute, lame, and crippled found healing there. The protection of the monastery sisters during a looting by the French in 1677 is also attributed to the statue.
This is said to have fostered devotion in St. Peter's Church to such an extent that the chapel was completely filled on Saturdays and feast days of Mary.
