Wat Jong Soong was built in 1838 by Shan people. The temple was damaged when a large fire occurred in Mylonggee (big mineral) and later called Mueang Youm Luang followed by Mae Sariang. Donations were gathered and a new temple was constructed under Phra Sengkum. The temple was finished in 1896 and named Wat Jong Soong. The name was changed in the period of PM Phibunsongkhram to Wat Uttayarom. There are 3 pagodas on the premises. The pagoda in the west was built in the early reign of King Rama VI. The period of construction of the middle pagoda is not known, but it is believed to contain a relic of the Buddha. The pagoda in the east is in Burmese style and has seven spires.
