In Villers-La-Ville stands the "Abbaye Notre-Dame De Villers". These are the ruins of what once was a Cistercian abbey. Deep in the valley of the Thyle, which has carved out an almost Ardennes landscape here, lie the remnants to admire.
The abbey was founded in 1146 by the later canonized Saint Bernard and has grown over the years into one of the most unique abbeys in all of Western Europe. The ruin covers more than 15 hectares and the 13th-century brewery is one of the most impressive monastic buildings in Belgium.
