The Sint Leonarduskerk in Zoutleeuw (13th - 16th century) was built to replace a Romanesque chapel that was built here in 1125 by Benedictines from Vlierbeek. The largest part is built in the Gothic style, the oldest parts are Romanesque (window in the west façade). The two towers are connected by a gallery over the central nave.
The elegant crossing tower contains a glockenspiel with 24 bells. This church with its towers has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
The church escaped iconoclasm. She also survived the French revolution virtually unscathed because three canons took the oath of allegiance to the French regime. It is also called the reliquary of Brabant.
