The parish church of Loppem (Zedelgem) is a curious (neo-)Gothic whole, whose origins date back to the 13th century. The church was continuously expanded over the centuries. The heavy square tower is the oldest surviving part. The octagonal upper tower and the left aisle date from the early 17th century. The right aisle dates from 1860-1870. In those years, the church, including the interior, was completely restored in neo-Gothic style by the architects Auguste Van Assche and Jean Bethune, co-designer of the nearby castle.
