Reet is a village in the municipality of Rumst, in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Reet was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977.De origin of the name "Reet" cannot be determined with certainty. To begin with, the name Reet may have a Celtic origin, just like many other names in the region such as Kontich, Boom, Aartselaar and Rumst. The Germanic peoples who settled there from the 4th century onwards adopted the original Celtic names with their own accent.
