Wayside Chapel

Rurally located wayside chapel, slightly planted opposite no. 16. According to the inscription on the facing stone, built in 1858 by Pastor P.J. De Saedeleer. In 1972, preliminary plans were already made for the restoration of the chapel. The current state after the extensive renovation and partial reconstruction in 1994, commissioned by Pastor R. Van Den Berge (see second facing stone), deviates more from the former design. According to archive photo, it was previously simpler, whitewashed brick construction featuring a pointed arch doorway beneath an identical niche in a blunt gable.
Rectangular wayside chapel with three-sided closure under a slate gable roof, now between gables on shoulder pieces and with a gable-shaped roof piece. Brick construction on a hard stone base enriched with natural stone, among other things, for surrounding bands and frames of the round-arched door and side windows. Top of the front facade with decorative anchor. Original facing stone (1858) above the base to the right of the door.
