The Rivage en Pot lock allowed the passage of the Ourthe canal, completed in 1854, to the Meuse. The name of the lock would recall the probable use of the site during the Roman period. The etymology of "Rivage en Pot" would come from the Latin words "ripa," meaning bank, and "emporium," which can be translated as warehouse, trading post, public market.
The structure consists of two double-leaf gates and is bordered by quay walls made of large limestone blocks. These are limited by guardrails made of limestone posts supporting painted cast-iron handrails. The lock keeper's house, built in the mid-19th century, occupies the immediate surroundings.
Classified as a monument on May 20, 1983.
