View from the Molenstraat on the Hagelendse akkers, in May. At the Molenstraat in Rillaar, there was regular flooding and mud in the gardens, homes and on the street. In June 2016, during severe thunderstorms, there was a real mudslide in the center of Rillaar. Therefore, two logging dams were constructed. Logging dams are simple and inexpensive constructions that are very effective. Wooden poles, wire mesh and wood chippings are used to build a wall that stops the mud particles and allows the water to pass through slowly.
