The Beausaint troughs seem to indicate a utilitarian and agricultural system that is no longer in use.
Before cattle and horses could be watered in the stable or in the pasture , the herd had to be led to a water trough several times a day . This was hard and time-consuming work.
In villages too far from a river or pond, animals had to quench their thirst from water troughs (supplied by the nearest spring ).
Today the troughs have become flower beds, adding color to the landscape.
