Veurne for everyone

Campus Engineering Veurne worked for a number of years on a project 'STEAM up for an inclusive Veurne' in collaboration with the province of West Flanders to create an inclusive walk through Veurne. Thanks to the Erasmus project 'How special are your needs, can we help?' a similar walk was implemented in five cities in five other countries.

Currently, you will find about 12 videos on this walk with images, spoken text, and subtitles, but also with sign language. The walk is approximately 2.3 km long. In the former city hall, the building next to the info office, there are tactile models. We created tactile models of part of the market, the Saint Nicholas tower, the pump in the market, and the former Vauban fortification. Along the route, you will also find a couple of games: a sliding puzzle and a nerve spiral with the tactile model of the Vauban fortification. 

The route has been made more wheelchair friendly. Here and there adjustments have been made to the curb height or an obstacle has been removed. If you experience any areas for improvement while walking, feel free to reach out.
