Lamorteau

The southernmost village in Belgium. We are talking about the beautiful village of Torgny, 574 ha wide, rich of just over 200 inhabitants. It sunbathes in the southernmost corner of the province of Luxembourg, penetrating the France like a peninsula. It is now a village in the commune of Rouvroy. The residential area of Torgny is a real procession of buildings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. No modern building disturbs this harmony. You will find about fifty buildings dating between 1741 and 1882, a neoclassical washhouse, old walls, a simple church dedicated to Saint-Martin and several pretty roofs, because some Torgny roofs are still covered with Roman round tiles. The village is surrounded by vineyards and a special nature reserve (a former quarry) that is home to several plants and animals that exist nowhere else in Belgium.

TYPE OF ROAD
Only paved roads except in the crossing of the Bois Géline where you meet rocky forest roads without pavement that are quite slippery in rainy weather.
Your most comfortable walking shoes will suffice, but the ride is inaccessible to pushers and wheelchairs.

BALSIAGE
The promenade is largely marked by means of lying yellow rectangles and partially also by means of recumbent red rectangles. In the village of Lamorteau street names will be of great help.

PARKING
You will certainly find a place to park the car for a few hours around the church of St. Nicholas, for example in front of the sanctuary, near a walnut tree or on the bridge (battlements).
