GR 130 Iron

EN - The GR 130 IJzer route runs halfway through the Westhoek region of French Flanders (FR) and halfway through West Flanders (BE). It is a pleasant walk through a flat and very open landscape. Watching the river grow from a small field stream into an expanding river and then into a sea of water at Nieuwpoort forms the (white) red thread of this tour.
The GR 130 IJzer branches off the GR 128 in Buysscheure and leads through French villages such as Esquelbecq and Wormhout. After Herzeele, it crosses the border. A shared section with GR 5A to Stavele and with GR 131 to Diksmuide allows you to experience the vast Ijzerbroeken. Passing by the nature reserve de Viconiakleiputten, you come back to the IJzer. Together with GR 5A, you reach the dyke in Nieuwpoort-Bad via the Ganzepoot lock complex and the harbor canal.

DE - Der GR 130 IJzer-Weg verläuft zur Hälfte durch die Westhoek-Region von Französisch Flandern (FR) und zur Hälfte durch Westflandern (BE). Es ist eine angenehme Wanderung über eine flache und sehr offene Landschaft. Den Fluss zu beobachten, wie er von einem Feldbächlein über einen sich ausdehnenden Fluss zu einem Meer aus Wasser bei Nieuwpoort wächst, ist der (weiße) Faden dieser Wanderung.
