Herzele

In the little tourist area between Aalst and Zottegem, you will find quiet paths and trails. You will walk from one church village to another along agricultural paths and church paths. The Heldergemse Holbeek promises you a beautiful piece of nature. Central to the hike are the tributaries of the Molenbeek, itself a tributary of the Dender. Open fields alternate with enclosed stream valleys. Each time you cross the fields between two valleys, you will be rewarded with beautiful views.
DEPARTURE LOCATION
You can reach the town hall of Herzele by taking the E40 at exit 18-Erpe-Mere and following the N46 towards Oudenaarde. After 6 km, take the N464 on the left to the center of Herzele. Drive past the church until you reach the town hall.
PARKING
On the right at the town hall on the market square.
TYPE OF PATH
Alternating earth, gravel, and low-traffic asphalt and concrete roads; narrow grass path between Aaigem-Dries and Heldergem, cobblestone paths to Heldergem.
ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for strollers and wheelchairs; muddy areas after rainy weather.
