Haasje-over between Walloon Brabant and Hainaut

During this tour you will walk through the westernmost corner of Walloon Brabant and the surroundings of Hainaut and Flemish Pajottenland. You walk through a gently sloping landscape of river valleys (which feed the Senne), meadows, fields and foothills of Hainaut forests.

It is quiet to walk on the church's straight roads, bumpy paved strips, through soft meadows, soft forest trails and traffic-free strips of asphalt. Sometimes you stretch the calf muscles on a steep climb. You pass through four villages: Hennuières (part of Braine-le-Comte in Hainaut), Virginal-Samme (part of Walloon Brabant Ittre), Quenast (part of Hainaut Rebecq) and Rebecq-Rognon.

The hilly region around Tubise (Tubize), Rebecq (Roosbeek), Ittre (Itter), Nivelles (Nivelles) and Braine-le-Château (Braine-le-Château) is also called the Roman Païs, a surprising part of Wallonia with a lot of heritage in a green setting and barely 20 km below the linguistic border.
