Route Houwaart – Smeysberg – Houwaart (105km, 750hm)

A beautiful varied route from the hilly Hageland to the slopes near Brussels.

The goal was to create a fluid course with enough altimeters, without this tour appearing even a little artificially created.
We also tried to drive as much as possible on car-free roads.

The result is a course of just over 100km and more than 800hm. The trail runs from Houwaart in the Hageland through Meensel Kiezegem, Pellenberg, Haasrode and the waters of Zoete to the Smeysberg in Huldenberg.

From there, the retreat begins clockwise. This tour passes through Neerijse, Bertem and Buken to the Leuven – Mechelen canal in Tildonk.

Along this canal, we drive almost to Leuven, to reconnect with the hills of Hageland (Chartreuseberg and Houwaartseberg) in Wilsele. On the way, we pass in front of the castle of Horst, or the castle of the Red Knight.

It often happens that the first part is against the wind. This means that the large mill can often be changed from the turning point.
It is best to save energy for the ascent of the Chartreuse.
