The Old Church Wupperfeld is a former Protestant church in Wuppertal-Barmen.
It was deconsecrated and sold as a place of worship in 2017.
The present area of Oberbarmen, located on the border of the Duchy of Berg to Prussia in the 18th century, initially belonged ecclesiastically to the Lutheran community of Schwelm, which had been Prussian since 1666. The Lutherans of Wichlinghausen fought for the right to establish their own congregation and build a church in 1744, and in turn opposed the secession of the "Wupperströmers," who wanted to establish their own congregation and church in the valley. The founding of the congregation became a matter of diplomacy between the local ruler, Elector Charles Theodore, and the Prussian King Frederick II, who supported the position of the Wichlinghausers. Ultimately, however, the Elector approved the construction of the church for the Lutherans in Wuppertal on May 16, 1777. In return, the Wupperströmers were obliged to support the Catholic community founded in 1772 in the Prussian Hattingen with a building site and by covering all necessary costs.
