Village Church Staaken

The village church of Alt-Staaken at Nennhauser Damm 72 in the Berlin district of Staaken in the Spandau borough is one of over 50 village churches in Berlin that are under monument protection. From 1962 to 1999, it belonged to the Falkensee parish, and since then to the Spandau parish in the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia.
Staaken was first mentioned in a document on March 26, 1273, when Heinrich and Arnold von Döberitz transferred eight hooves in Staaken from their manor to the monastery of Benedictine nuns in Spandau, founded in 1239. Since 1295, the village of Staaken has been under the jurisdiction of the city of Spandau. Some rights – such as church patronage – remained with the monastery of Benedictine nuns and from 1420 until the Reformation with the Holy Spirit Hospital.
