Lake Cluvenhagen

The Cluvenhagener See is a quarry pond near the village of Cluvenhagen in the district of Verden, Lower Saxony, Germany.
The lake was created by dredging sand, and the area is considered one of the last inland dune areas between Bremen and Verden. Two areas in the immediate vicinity of the lake are managed by the NABU group Langwedel and are home to a special habitat for sand bees and other sand insects due to dry sand dunes in the immediate vicinity of the wetland lake. Sand bees, which create tunnels in the sand dunes for their brood, feed on pollen from the willows that grow in the immediate vicinity of the lake.
