The Herford Clinic is the largest hospital in the Herford district, with 21 clinics, specialist departments, and institutes, as well as 803 beds. With around 2100 employees, this public law institution is the largest employer in the city of Herford. The clinic was an academic teaching hospital of the Medical School of Hanover until July 2016 and has since been a cooperation partner of the University Hospital of Ruhr University Bochum. It refers to itself as a maximum care hospital.
