The origins of the Hallopark lie in the vicinity of the early Gothic Kaiser Wilhelm Tower, which was inaugurated on June 10, 1899, named after Wilhelm I, and stood as a four-story observation tower on the natural hill in the northern part of Essen, called Hallo. The 43-meter-high tower housed a small museum with a collection of weapons and memorabilia from Prussian-German history, which was relocated in 1920. Since then, the whereabouts of the inventory have been unknown. Additionally, there was a Halloturm March composed specifically for the tower. Close by, there was an inn with a Jugendstil hall. In World War II, the tower, which was built between 1897 and 1899, was severely damaged and was not rebuilt afterward.
