The Marktfrühschoppen in Marburg was an event that took place annually on the first Sunday in July at the Marburg marketplace, primarily supported by student fraternities. The organizers referred to it as the "shortest folk festival in Germany."
The last Marktfrühschoppen took place in 2014, after the city administration had already attempted to prevent the event in previous years due to the participation of some fraternities classified as far-right. The last announced Marktfrühschoppen in 2015 was canceled by the sponsoring association, and in 2017, the sponsoring association finally dissolved.
