The Else Lasker-Schüler Society is committed to a contemporary culture of remembrance; it is a politically active literary society dedicated to the poet Else Lasker-Schüler and her literary and artistic work.
The society was founded in 1990 in Wuppertal by Hajo Jahn. The first chairman was Friedhelm Beiner. The second chairman and honorary managing director is the former WDR journalist Hajo Jahn. He has also been the first chairman of the society since 1997.
