Hiking on the historical traces of the former Kleinbahn Salzuflen, we walk through the diverse landscape garden that can be experienced in many ways. Past the idyllic salt meadows, bird aviaries, and bee information stands up to the level of the forest restaurant "Zur Loose". Those who feel like playing a round of mini-golf on the way will find the mini-golf course there next to a refreshing break under shady trees.
Whoever hikes gains memories for life
On the soft forest floor, we turn left into the enchanted Finnebachtal with deciduous trees and the Finnebach.
Arriving at the Heerhof golf course, the hiking trail winds gently between the golf course and the dense mixed forest up to a hill.
Germany's oldest highway bridge
On the way, we walk under the Finnebachtal bridge, a remarkable viaduct. A photo stop is worthwhile there. The highway bridge, built of red Eifel sandstone, is one of the oldest in Germany. Built in 1938 and 1939, it was opened to traffic in the same year. In 1996, the bridge was expanded and widened to 38 m by laying concrete slabs. The viaduct is an architectural masterpiece and has been under monument protection since 1988.
After the first gentle ascent, fantastic views over the plain to Herford reward us.
In a curve around the Stuckenberg, the hiking trail leads us to Vlothoer Straße. There you will find the Hotel Waldesrand. On the way, you will discover colorful signposts of the Stuckenpfad, a project of a primary school in Herford.
Originally, the start and end of the hiking trail were at the Restaurant and Hotel Waldesrand. Since the circular tour leads through the impressive city center of Bad Salzuflen and past the graduation towers, the hiking tour can also be started there as desired. In addition, the diverse culinary offerings in the spa town of Bad Salzuflen offer a favorite place for every gourmet.
Detour to the Herford Bismarck Tower
For a round trip of about 900 m to the historic Bismarck Tower in Herford, we hike to the left of the hotel and follow the signposted hiking trail. It leads directly to the Bismarck Tower. In addition, the memorial stone commemorates the "Day of German Unity" on October 3, 1990, and we look to the left over the forested region. A shelter and picnic areas invite you to take a relaxed break, especially at sunset.
If you don't want to walk back to the Hotel Waldesrand on the hiking trail, you will find a hiking option in a westerly direction that leads directly to the magnificent viewing terrace at the Restaurant Steinmeyer.
Alternatively, we walk back along the path and follow the signs to Herford. Then we change direction towards the Restaurant Steinmeyer. The Hansaweg X9 or hiking trail 2 also leads to the restaurant.

The prime location of Restaurant Steinmeyer offers a magnificent panoramic view and is a wonderful place to stop on this tour. This moment is surely unforgettable for every hiker!
Back to Bad Salzuflen, the mostly shady panoramic trail with a magnificent view leads us. To the right, we pass the Herford Animal Park and hike back under a highway bridge to the first residential buildings of Bad Salzuflen.
Arriving at the Obernberg parking lot, we descend to the VitaSol thermal baths and discover new perspectives on the remaining path through the lovingly designed and impressive landscape garden. Upon reaching the destination, we enjoy the fine brine air at the experience graduation tower and settle down for a cozy break in one of the surrounding restaurants.
