Stage 17: Haan-Hülsberg - Haan-Gruiten

Haan-Hülsberg to Haan-Gruiten
The stage shaped by the Ittertal leads over many beautiful paths and through a long valley with a high experiential value. Along the way you will find Kotten, whose water wheels once drove hammer plants, grinding stones, and bellows of the forge fires for the production of metal goods. We start in Haan and quickly the course of the neanderland STEIG orients itself towards Ittertal. We pass under a gigantic earth wall, over which the railway line Cologne - Wuppertal runs, and then past the water castle Caspersbroich. We continue in the Ittertal and again and again we see the Kotten, old water mills for metal processing; here in the Ittertal, the Klingenpfad accompanies us for almost the entire length of the valley. We continue hiking along the Itter until we walk through a side valley in a northern direction. Near the Naturfreundehaus Solingen we meet the Bergischer Weg, which accompanies the neanderland STEIG for a good part. At the end of the stage we reach Gruiten station, where our hike ends for today.
