RO3 Over the Villages

The tour is only 32 km long. Plenty of time to ride comfortably and take breaks. Attention - between Nestau and Suhlendorf there is a small change in the route that is not yet signposted! We are working on it. Let's start in Rosche. Via Teyendorf and Göddenstedt, you will reach Dallahn in the far east of the Uelzen district. From here, you can practically see the neighboring Wendland. In the next village, Dalldorf, stands a fieldstone chapel from 1668. Curiously: Due to a dispute, it was first built in the neighboring village of Göddenstedt and years later moved to Dalldorf. The chapel is made of field and sandstones and a wooden bell tower. Inside you will find wood carvings and windows with coat of arms paintings. Via Grabau, Nestau, Növenthien, and Kölau you will reach Suhlendorf. Here, the barrier-free open-air museum entices with insights into the theme of "mills and mill craftsmanship". You can also explore various craft professions over the past 100 years: from shoemaker to potter, blacksmith, saddler, upholsterer, roofer, carpenter, radio technician, printer. A must-see: the hair salon from the fifties! On the grounds, the over 200-year-old post windmill "Auguste" towers high. On action days, it is in operation and grinds grain into flour. After visiting the museum, continue to Klein Ellenberg. Just beyond the village, to the right, rises the 85-meter-high Ilkenberg. The "Holy Mountain" is a pre-Christian cult site, once a meeting and sacrificial site. From here, you have a magnificent view over the landscape. Down from the mountain and back on the bike - the tour continues to Gavendorf. Northeast of Gavendorf is the nature reserve "Schwarzes Moor," a high moor remnant characterized by bog birches, pines, and bell heather. You can walk into the moor, but please stay on the paths! To the left of Klein Pretzier, the next village on the route, is Kahlstorf. Between the two villages, signs show the way to a 5,000-year-old burial chamber. It is 26 meters long and 7 meters wide! The farmers of the Funnelbeaker culture erected it and buried their dead here. Back on the main route, you cycle to Molbath. Here, NABU has created a wetland habitat where cranes and the moor frog reside. Also, little grebes, nightingales, and orioles nest here. Ideally, you should have binoculars with you: from the observation platform, you can overlook the NABU wetland habitat. The tour leads back to the starting point Rosche via Klein Malchau. powered by
