MI-Bückeburg: Star tour 4 via Bückeburg to the visitor mine

This tour takes you to the Schaumburger Land. First, you pass the monument of the Great Elector over the Weser Bridge and the subsequent "Colored Bridge". When the Weser River floods, these areas are under water up to the wall at the station fortress. It is a special sight when strong frost occurs and the shallow water turns into an ice surface. If you look to the right, you have a magnificent view of the Porta Westfalica and the gentle hills of the Weser Uplands with the television tower on the Jakobsberg and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial on the Wittekindsberg.
Behind the bridge begins the former station fortress. The Minden station was not to be built within the city walls for safety reasons, which is why it received its own fortress with three forts and a flanking battery. It was built in 1847 as the endpoint of the "Cologne-Minden Railway".
By bike, follow the signs for the "West-East Cycle Path" which will take you through Dankersen, Berenbusch, and Evesen. To orient yourself, continue to follow the mentioned signs from Evesen until this path intersects with the so-called "Castles and Manor Houses Cycle Path", which will take you to Bückeburg Castle.
Once there, cross the castle stream and enter the castle grounds through the magnificent gate. Surrounded by the historic park, this is the ancestral seat of the House of Schaumburg-Lippe. The first documented mention dates back to the early 14th century, but the transformation into the current complex in the style of the Weser Renaissance did not begin until the 16th century. Immerse yourself in the history of the castle and the princely family on a guided tour, who still reside there today.
If you prefer something more technical and modern, head to the Helicopter Museum at Sablé Square via the marketplace. The history of these impressive aircraft is illustrated through five milestones and approximately 50 helicopters.
After a journey through noble history and inspiring impressions at the Helicopter Museum, you may feel like embarking on a trip through the layers of rock at the Kleinenbremen Visitor Mine. To do this, leave Bückeburg heading south on Georgstrasse and continue on Rintelner Strasse until you reach Kleinenbremen. Turn left onto another Rintelner Strasse and pass by the Olympia Restaurant until you reach the mine. Iron ore has been mined in the Weser Uplands since 1835, with the ore safely stored in Kleinenbremen from 1883 to 1957. Since 1988, the visitor mine has invited visitors with a warm "Glück auf" to enter the world of mining.
After a day filled with diverse impressions, your path leads you back to Minden along the Mill Route.
