Blue hiking trail in Silkeborg Vesterskov

The blue route leads along fixed forest roads through the beautiful hilly terrain. Here, you will encounter a diverse forest alternating between both broadleaf and coniferous trees of all ages. The route passes by the protected beech forest Knagerne and the Douglas fir avenue along Hjortedalsvej. Vesterskov is filled with traces from ancient field systems and burial mounds.

Along the route, you will find the interpretation stations "In the Footsteps of the Past," which take you on a journey to discover some of the exciting cultural histories hidden in Vesterskov over more than 2000 years. You can, among other things, go on a quest for the forest's animals, try your luck at parforce hunting on the wheel of fortune, and hear fascinating stories about Bronze Age mounds.

The interpretation is for both children and adults and is set up as part of the project "In the Footsteps of the Past," which is supported by the Nordea Foundation. The project is backed by Museum Silkeborg, Silkeborg Municipality, and the Nature Agency.
