Step 1 Gudenåstien

The Gudenå river springs from The Great Watershed - that is to say, where the water divides and flows towards the west and east, respectively. The two large rivers, Gudenå and Skjern Å, spring only a few hundred meters apart. And right in between these two springs runs the Hærvej. Here, the Gudenå Trail begins. Or ends, if you walk from north to south.

The trail to Tørring passes through an unusually beautiful and varied landscape. In the beginning, the Gudenå is just a small brook. Only from just before Tørring does the landscape open up more. From Tørring, the river is wide enough for boating.

Several places along the stretch have established boardwalks.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL BE WALKING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY IN SEVERAL PLACES. REMEMBER TO SHOW CONSIDERATION!

It is not allowed to cycle on the trail.

OVERNIGHT STAY AND TRANSPORT

If you arrive by car, you can park long-term at Koutrupgaard, where there are also shelters. If you are only on a shorter trip, you can park at the source of the Gudenå.

It is difficult to reach the source of the Gudenå by public transport - consider using flex traffic.

In Tørring, where you can both shop and overnight (Tørring Camping), there are regional buses. Find them on Rejseplanen.

NOTE. NOTE. Be aware that the capacity in the shelters in Uldum Kær (stage 2) is limited in the high season. They cannot be booked, and you may risk arriving at already occupied shelters. Consider staying overnight in Tørring when there are many on the trail.
