Costa del Azahar is Spanish for: "Orange Blossom Coast". According to tradition, the first oranges came with the caravans of Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) to the eastern part of the Mediterranean. For the Moors, the orange tree played an important role: this tree with its beautiful blossom was, in addition to colorful mosaics and splashing fountains, one of the three essential elements for the design of gardens. But orange blossoms not only have a decorative function, they are also known for their medicinal effect, which was already praised by the Roman scholar Pliny in his Naturalis Historia. Today, in aromatherapy, the soothing and uplifting properties of orange blossom have been rediscovered.
