It was formally constituted as independent entity in 2017, after the administrative reorganization of the district carried out by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid. The urbanization planning, the so-called PAU dates back to the 1980s, and it was assumed by the regional administration in 1989. There was a project to erect a 92 m high monumental armillary sphere in the neighborhood, yet the project failed to materialize. Two perpendicular boulevards conform the spine of the area. It has an area of 2.354258 km2 . As of 1 February 2020, it has a population of 17,851.
