Pueblos Blancos 3 (white villages): Olvera and Setenil de las Bodegas; Puerto Serrano - Iznajar

This tour is part of a series of city walks and tours described in Day trips in central Andalusia: Cádiz - Jerez-de-la-frontera - Pueblos-Blancos - Córdoba - Granada

It is the changeover day when the base Puerto Serrano changes into Iznájar. We use the day to visit 2 more beautiful white villages : Olvera and Setenil de las Bodegas.

Because Olvera is so beautifully situated on a hill, we take the N342 to capture the beautiful picture. Free Parking ctra. subida a la iglesia 2 or Plaza Matedero.

We walk past the viewpoint Bario de la Villa to the colorful Iglesia mayor parroquial y arcipestral Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación which stands high above the city. At this Plaza de la Iglesia you also have a beautiful view of the Castillo de Olvera , which is located even higher on a rock.

We walk into the old cemetery Cementerio Parroquial de Olvera with its niches in the rock walls.

From Olvera we drive 15 km to Setenil de la Bodegas and make a short stop at the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios just outside Olvera.

We park in the (paid) car park on Calle Jaboneria.

The walk to the rock dwellings in Setenil goes along the overhanging rocks that are so characteristic. You can find the description here.
