From the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg near Orschwiller, not far from Sélestat, you are offered a breathtaking view of the Vosges, the Rhine, and the Black Forest. The ruins of the fortification, built in the 12th century, were restored in 1899 by the German Emperor Wilhelm II to make the ins and outs of the Middle Ages accessible to the public.
