Rekspoede is a municipality in the French Westhoek in the French Nord department. The municipality is located in French Flanders in the region of Blootland, not far from De Schreve. Rekspoede borders the municipalities of Killem, Oostkappel, Bambeke, Westkappel, and Warrem. The municipality has over 1,700 inhabitants. Rekspoede was already mentioned in 1107 under the name Rexpouda, Rikespold, and Rikespoud, derived from the Germanic Rikis Bothia. In the Flandria Illustrata by Sanderus from 1650, the village of Rexpoele was mentioned. On the maps and paintings of the lordships of Sint-Winoksbergen and Veurne, Respoue is mentioned. Exactly as the village is still called in Flemish today. Officially, it is now called Rexpoëde in French with a diaeresis, although this is not pronounced.
